Lai Shing Dim Sim Sydney

Have Bao on 72nd floor.

We were staying at Meriton Apartments Sydney 72nd floor and decided to look for breakfast. Walking down the road towards Central Train station we found a shop that sold steamed buns and other steamed yum cha type foods for take out.

The BBQ pork buns were $1,50 each. They also sell frozen and steamed pastry without filling - mantou. Menu Below.

Opening times are 8 am to 6 pm 7 days a week. So you can get your dim sum fix daily. maybe get the 1/2 dozen BBQ pork buns to get your glucose hit.

If you are ever in China Town in early morning try this shop. They speak mandarin.

Fook Yuen Chatswood for Sydney Volvo truck drivers

Chinese food in large platters. Food was plentiful enough to feed a large group of hungry truck drivers. .

Below the wine on the left is a sweet red almost like a port.. Bought by CK an engineer.  This seemed to go well with the Peking duck which was the starter. Our truck driver colleague drove a Volvo with a sleeping berth in the back of the rig so could sleep it off afterwards.

I had 3 servings of Sang choy pau. Courtesy of the generous servings which others could not finish. If you ever need to feed an army of  hungry truck drivers come here. .See their web site at http://kingfookgroup.com.au/Menu.aspx?location=Fook%20Yuen%20Chatswood

Nest from fried noodles with vegetarian chicken. Wine was never ending with top ups from big brother from Taiping.

3 layer pork which we doggy bagged home due to the giant servings. Would have been good for truck drivers who drove Volvos. He was getting ready for a big container drive tomorrow after the meat fest.

Fried chicken topped with deep fried rice. This is a new twist for me to the popular yam duck.

Reaching for sliced oranges (the healthy choice) on the right. On the right cookies fried to go with the red bean soup.

Fook Yuen Seafood on Urbanspoon

To whip up an appetite before the meal we went walking in the Chatswood chase mall and the Chatswood westfield mall. Walked from 4 to 530 pm before dinner. This should have burned a couple of hundred calories from lunch.

See http://www.chatswoodchaseshopping.com.au/ There was a Williams Sonoma one of our favourite kitchen ware retailers.

The air conditioning at Chatswood mall was not as efficient but there were interesting little shops which sold lots of interesting stuff that you could buy for gifts. Such as the $1000 torch from the torch shop. See  http://www.westfield.com.au/chatswood/

Ippudo Central Court Sydney

Noodle time. But try the open Bao (bun). Light & delicate pastry. Chicken. Prawn or Pork filling. $4 or $5 each or $11 for a choice of 3.

Price of noodles range from 10 to $18. It was a balmy autumn night in Sydney and we chose to sit outside. It was very busy inside so sitting in the courtyard facilitated dinner conversation.

The pork noodles can be ordered as firm, medium or soft. The medium consistency was less chewy and suited my taste. The broth was tasty and full of flavour. Pork slices were soft and juicy.

They did not serve hot green tea in summer. A very practical suggestion.
The location was great with lots of evening diners and a friendly crowd. On a Tuesday eveing the wait was about 15 to 20 minutes for a table of 3. It can get very busy so come early. See http://www.ippudo.com.au/
