Goong Korean BBQ Perth

We invited our colleague from Korea to dinner. Seoul citizen. Ordered the sea food & beef BBQ sets. Wow amazing amount of foood for 4. All cooked by restaurant staff at the table. Korean pancakes.

Also had fried chicken wings. Our korean born lady colleague seemed to enjoy too.Was a moderately busy week night in restuarant. Mainly couples. Really loved the steamed egg dish. Light and warm & fulfilling. All 4 of us had korean wine. Deliciously dizzying with the BBQ. Seoul citizien recounted his memories of the drink in hometown. Desserts were marveloooous with great Asian flavours. Green tea ! Red beans and sweetness sky high....Can be a bit pricey if you are used to the usual Korean BBQ all you can eat. But worth it if you have an out of town friend like Seoul Citizen whom we want to give a taste of home.

Bullcreek Hawker Perth

Packed with foodies. Shuffling space only. The chicken rice came within minutes. Poached chicken was cold with sweetish soya sauce. Fried kueh teow had strong smoky flavors. The laksa was mildly hot. It was thicker soup variety. The eggy rice noodles or hor fun  were slicky smooth. Loud chatter in the background. The clanking of woks can be heard in background. All the sounds of Asian street food in Bullcreek.

Tandoori Club Albany

After the whale museum Cheynes tour we went for an early dinner. The food was cook to order so we had mild curries. We were the only patrons in a large dining area. The chicken tandoori was juicy and tender. The prawns saal was flavored spinach. Butter chicken was sweet and mildly spicy. The tandoori bread was tasty and hot. Chicken tika masala was warm and homey. Rice was hot and steamed. Safron rice was yellow fluff. It was a nice end to the day.

D'Ankasa Perth

Had meeting in London Court Perth in Hay street mall. We wanted a quick nutritious lunch to keep going. Walked 5 mins east. Nev ordered Hainan chicken rice with steam chicken breast for $11 an the mixed fruit juice. I also had the white meat to be calorie and protein consious. However, instead of a fruit juice I had the soya bean bandung for $3.5, This is a pink coloured soya bean drink. Indonesian origins with a pink flavoring added to sweet soya bean milk. The Hainan rice came with a clear consome with no fat in it, Another plus for the low calories. The rice was not oily and the chicken was steamed without any extra oils just some fried shallot shavings. The soya bean was a tall glass of pink sweet fluid that probably had more calories then the hainan chicken meal. Instead of chicken breast you can ask for brown meat or the chicken thigh (Maryland). If you are not on a diet fried chicken is also available as an option.

So for those training for a sport event or on a health kick try the steamed chicken rice here. It was very busy and we only had 30 mins before we went back for our meeting. However, they delivered the meal within mimutes of ordering. Soup and drink came. Then the rice and chicken.

We were out of there in 30 mins. A touch of MSG in the soup and well steamed chicken breast may not agree with everyone but for a fast low calorie high protein meal near London Court Hay st Mall with Aisan Flavors this hit the spot. Decor is for fast food you could get lost by ordering with high calories like a wok fried noodle so beware.

Freshmade Japanese Cafe Perth

Boxing Day shopping. Most restaurants closed. Found this gem of a Japanese diner.

The menu above.
We had fried chicken spicy Karaage served with rice below.

Tempura curry udon unspicy thick scrumptious noodles.

Tonkatsu ramen was chewy with soya sauce.

Green crispy fried gyoza.

Black rice chicken rolls.

Wow so healthy & nutrient packed. Self service. Unlimited water and hard seats. Takeaway may be better on a crowded day. Filled the shopping belly for more buys on Boxing Day.

Two Fat Indians Cottesloe

Weeknight dinner with two south Asian friends.

We had cheesy mushrooms a specialty of the house. I got 2 succulent mushrooms smothered in cheese and spices. The flavors entombed the mouth in a spicy mushy mix out of South Asia. Delicious. We also had the lamb chops. Butter naan, rice, Goan fish curry, and madras chicken curry. All in extra large servings. Service was good and price reasonable. Worth visiting again.

Simply delicious and succulent lamb chops.

The fish curry

The location of the two restaurants. We were at the Cottesloe branch. The decor was plain with some Indian ornaments. Many clients took away food. Ok for a family or informal meal or a beer night out.

Ho Hung Kee Hong Kong Airport

Fast swei kow or water play dumplings with noodles and porridge. Hot soya bean milk in bowls. Hot fast chinese food Cantonese style at the airport. Crunchy chew on the dumplings with firm el dente egg noodles. No room for the on board cathay pacific meal. Or the tit bits in the Wing lounge upstairs.

Candlenut Modern Singaporean Peranakan

The decor was rustic with straw lamp shades. Fast service.

We had starters with satay, stewed vegetables that you scooped into fried pastry cups and prawn crackers.

Then mains with steaming hot rice, beef rendang coconut strength, vegetables in mild spicy sauce and coconut water from the shell.

Good service with older waiting staff. KK had the chendol or green jelly with coconut. The flavors smacked of Singapore in the 21st century.

The charm of old Melaka in the food was cloaked by the modern fog.

Samy's Curry Singapore

We were promised a stomping hot curry in a tropical island setting. AJ & I were picked up from T3 Changi in Mercedes GL250 4wd. Our friend H drove us to Dempsey in german stealth metal coach. The contrast on stepping into the control chaos of Samy's curry was monsoonal. Heaps of crowded tables laden with banana leaf plates heaped with rice & curry. We had chicken masala with white rice. Fish patties and lovely fish curry sauce. Washed down with Samy's lime juice. AJ from India had extra. A taste different from India's. The papadums were wafers of South Asia in concentrate. We saw lawyers in black & white enjoying the fish head. Maybe another time as we were discussing astrological economics with H. So couldn't let our senses be clouded by spice and chilly.

Fat Noodle Brisbane Treasury Casino

Gamblin the luck & feelin hunger in the soul. Recharge the sugar to the brain's roulete cells. Try the Fat noodle chinese fast menu.

Speed food delivered by black clad waiters and waitresses. We had rice dishes and the rapid peking duck. The stir fry beef and veges were hot and saucy with the rice. Then back to the furnace of the gamin tables. Prices were reasonable for the Casino venue. $20 for the Peking duck. And rice dishes around there too.

Sik Heung Yuen Kowloon

This restaurant is directly opposite the Novotel Hotel on Jordan road.

Just walk across the road of the hotel entrance on Saigon St. (The hotel provides a full buffet including hot breakfast.) We had to meet a friend for breakfast and decided to have a more tradtional breakfast in this restaurant and not the hotel. They have noodle and breakfast set menus for HKD30 to 40. Eggs wih toast, milk tea and noodles with ham and sausage. Very economical and clean with good fast service. Opens at 7am. Good place to meet friends for a snack or coffee as opposite the Novotel and close to the underground train.

Hong Kong Old Restaurant

I read all the restaurant reviews and ould not work out why a shanghainese restaurant was called old hong kong. We had all the shanghainese favorites. Pan fried pau, baby river prawns, flat bread, HKD6000 shark fin, shanghai ham, mushroom and dried soybean rolls. The furniture & carpets were a little dated but worked ok for the food. Our host didn't explain the concept but the restaurant  reviews were really helpful. Service was fast and they catered for all our needs without complaints.

Star Seafood restaurant 439 Nathan rd

We had the king crab with egg white sauce. Agree with earlier restaurant reviews the steamed king crab with egg white sauce is sublime. In Australia the crab can be served with ginger or garlic but it masks the flavors of the crab. The service was good as we had a dedicated server in our private room. We had the razor clams and fried fish with celery. The shark in chicken stock was potent like chicken venom. The veges were amazing. We had choy sum which melted in your mouth & we confused it with Chinese Kale. There was Peking duck with pancakes. We were able to pick a live swimming crab. About HKD 1400 per pound. Restaurant is not hard to find. The shop front was full of live swimming aqua marine animals.
