Hawker

Friday Sydney hawker style Malaysian. The little sister restaurant to Mamak down the road.
Long queues in Chinatown.  

Open kitchen in shopfront. Black T shirts? Traditionally Msian hawkers wore white T cotton t shirts from China. 



The seats are hard wooden stools. There is the slap down the plate service to complement the hawker food. The rice noodles with prawns were delectable. Slightly more salty rather than spicey consomme to give flavors to the soup. 



Popiah has lots of crunchy fried shallots. Less vegetarian filling. This is the new trend to have it crunchy so may be less fulfilling for die hards of popiah. 


The fried rice noodles penang style had alot of moistness from cooking oil. 


The oyster omelet was at the right note. Slightly crisp exterior with eggy insides.

 Fried durian fruit and ice cream go together. The batter did not dull the durian flavors. It could extend the aromatic fruit if it was thinner. 

The peanut topped crunchy crepes was nice dessert with sweet corn.



Bustling chefs in shop front making ikan bakar (fish burn) and popiah (vegetable spring rolls).  


Friend had wanton and noodles. Classy black sauce with cloying charcoal lyrics.

The barley ice drink had the hint of sucrose.   Worth queuing for. Lots of beautiful people.
